Dear all,

I was wondering if i can extend the conservation of my developper in a bag in box pouch. The same that we can find now for the wine or for the camel bags for cycling.

I shoot all the year but slowly slowly, and, the conservation of my chemistry is very important because my flow is too small to consum all my developper in few weeks.

The collapsible tanks that we can easily find are useful but no so easy to close when you have less than half of the tank in the bottle.

So, what s your advises ? Will i gain a certain time in conservation using this type of bags ? I don t want to make any advertising but you can find the products that i want to use when you googled baginboxonline.

It seems to me that they can be very useful to avoid any oxydation.

Thanks in advance for your advices or your experiences.

All the best

The answer is yes. There are many threads on the subject. Bladder boxes and repurposed wine boxes work well.

There are lots of discussion on this topic if you search using the term "wine box developer storage". I do not use this method personally but sounds reasonable...

I use another approach - I mix my developer in 2.5l, store 4 parts of 0.5l in PET bottles and squeeze the air out. These bottles are pretty gastight and are stored dark.
The remaining 0.5l is divided in 4 brown glass bottles filled nearly to the rim.
One glass bottle gives one shot in my Jobo 1520 tank. When all four bottles are empty I refill them from one of the PET bottles.

I use wine bladders. They work pretty well.

Andreas, your approach is quite interesting. To have a volume of dev ready can be very useful.

Mainecoonmaniac, thanks for the return of experience.

The bladders can be problematic to clean, similar to the accordion bottles. I have gone to small amber glass bottles filled to the brim, to exclude air, and use one shot or 1 to 1. Easy to clean and easy to not confuse with a drink.

Very true. That's why you get new ones by drinking more wine in a box
