Dear Colleagues, Terrible News!

This afternoon I learned that a complete field camera outfit on loan to a student was stolen last night. Please watch for this kit in toto or in parts:

Toyo Field Camera Body Model 45A
Serial number 16-2005028

Focus hood with Velcro fasteners to camera

Lenses:

1. Rodenstock Sinar 210mm/5.6, both lens caps (needs cleaning)
Serial number 10089370
Cable release, Toyo lens board

2. Fujinon 135mm/5.6 with both lens caps (needs cleaning)
Serial number 591381
Toyo lens board, besel converter to 67mm to accommodate filters

3. Fujinon SW 90mm/8 with both lens caps (needs cleaning)
Serial number 603891
Toyo lens board

Omega focusing loupe

Filters: all Hoya 67 mm

Green (XI)
Blue 80A
Amber O(G)
Polarizer, 1 stop
Red 25A,

All gear was packaged in custom Photo-Backpacker cases and carried in a blue Kelty Redwing backpack. There are also odds and ends, like there always are in these kits: flashlight, knife, notebooks, etc.

A police report is being filed with the Burlington, MA police department. If you find this gear, please alert me directly and the police department in Burlington as well.

Yikes! I hope all can be recovered. Once the likely thief discovers that he hasn't scored something of more apparent value, he may head for the nearest dumpster. I think your student has some extra homework coming his way... "Start looking."

Condolences,

The real shame is that the package was the working collection of a Los Angeles photographer Maxine Gomper, which was donated to the school by her daughter after she passed away. As you all can see, a very complete working package. It's just a shame to see that probably get destroyed. Insurance will probably get us another one, but it won't be as special to me. Some stupid kid on meth won't see any of that.
And yes, it's a real shame it happened to my student, who is a very conscientious and responsible person. But it could have happened to anyone.
Thanks for all the responses, and wish us luck in recovering the gear.

Thieves and Liars should all, . . . I don't know, . . . go away.
