I recently picked up a Rolleiflex that I think was a shelf queen... At least based on the lack of scratches on the mirror cap. A sticker on the inside indicates it was CLA'd as recently as 1978! The shutter speeds test decent, with 1/500 making 1/300 and 1s being 1.5 so I don't really want to send it for a CLA. But there's one problem: the shutter button doesn't spring back easily after firing and I have to pull it back out. I don't think there's anything wrong with the spring because it will return eventually. I know naptha is strictly verbotten, but is this something I would be forgiven for dabbing a bit on?

Get a can of electronic cleaner and give a little squirt and surround the button with paper towel so there is no over spray and just work it a little. You could also probably try a little lighter fluid in the button.

"lighter fluid in the button" IE: Naptha/Coleman lantern fuel. They're the same thing.

In case anyone was wondering, a tiny amount of lighter fluid around the button fixed it completely. Thanks everybody!

Lighter fluid fixes EVERYTHING in cameras.

I'm only kidding a little.
