I have an old Voigtlander AVUS 9x12 that was given to me. When I pull out the front standard it is really difficult and I was wondering if this is simply from non-use and they will slide easier over time or should I lightly lubricate them to make the pull easier. The standard has two chrome squeeze tabs that you squeeze to pull the bellows attached to the standard and they appear to be fine. On mine there is a lock knob in the center that you shift to move the standard left or right.

thanks in advance for any suggestions.

A very light oiling should work fine. Use just enough that there is a noticeable film with an oiled q-tip. Pretty much any oil will work.

Just use a hard wax, no worry about getting stuff where you do't want it. Even candle wax with
a little rub a dub dub will do.
