I do not follow photographers, and I had certainly never heard of Steve.
This is not Earth Shattering news.....
BUT...if you are a SF Giants fan, you may want to check him out.
Thursday Night I was looking at Craigslist and saw some darkroom stuff for a good price.
I called the guy...said he was a semi-retired professional photographer, and that the items were in good shape.
Get to his house and buy the junk...then he asks me if I want to see some of his "work". We go inside, he pulls out some big drawers, and there are A Bunch of photos of magazine covers for the SF Giants. Turns out he is Their Photographer.
He had a studio in the city for many years, and dabbled in fashion, portraits, and some commercial stuff I guess.
Nice guy...not a huge name, probably just your "typical" pro photographer. Seems to have done rather well for himself.

I was Steve's full time assistant in the 90's.
Fresh of the boat from Scotland I had no idea who all these people were that he photographed...
He's a nice guy.

When I got to his house, and we started talking, I was surprised when he said he was not very good at printing (I had asked him a few questions) ...said that his assistant did most of it.
But that is probably pretty typical for most, professional photographers.?
I imagine they spend their time doing other things.
Way different for somebody like me...it is a hobby...so printing is (will be) one of the main reasons I own a camera.

I lived in The Sunset for about 18 years...Judah and 24th.
Steve said his studio was in SOMA.....what street were you guys on.?
I think he said he still owns the building.
Thanks

...just a few short blocks from the Capp Street Follies.
Enough Said.
Thank You
