Stephen Shore retrospective in Paris

Vehicular & Vernacular, at the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson, June 1st to September 15th.

"With over a hundred images shot between 1969 and 2021 across the United States, Vehicular & Vernacular is the first retrospective of Stephen Shore’s work in Paris in nineteen years. On view at the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson until September 15, the exhibition shows the photographer’s renowned series — Uncommon Places and American Surfaces — alongside lesser-known projects never shown in France. A fragment of the Signs of Life exhibition in which Shore participated in 1976 is exceptionally recreated for the occasion. Finally, the photographer’s most recent series, shot using drones, is exhibited for the first time in Europe."

Just left the exhibit. Liked the drone shots of the high plains. The intersections of NowhereTown not so much. To each his/her own.

How much photos from American Surfaces and Uncommon Places are there? If I'm going to spend 1K$ for four-five days in Paris in August, it needs to be worth it.

Not in August!!! During the Olympics, everything will be 2x expensive and transportation possibly a mess.
The print catalogue (by Fondation Henri Cartier Bresson) should be in the bettter bookstores. But, then, once you have seen them in print, the worth of a trip to see the pics in person decreases... OTOH, I liked the picture of the homestead in Montana; there was a postcard for sale; but definitely inferior to seeing the large print; did not buy postcard.
The print catalogue was, IIRC, 45€. If you cannot buy it in Montreal, send me a PM and I'll see what I can do. There is a special mail rate for "french books".

I was checking dates last week of August, first of September, right after the Olympics. Prices are real cheap at that point.
