Can anyone suggest a good starting time and temperature for film speed testing with Arista EDU 400 in Pyrocat HD in a Jobo processor? The Massive Developing chart calls for 10 minutes at 86 degrees which seems really hot. Does anyone know why the temp would be so high and what effect higher temperature generally has on film development? I would rather stay in the 70s
Personally, I would never develop any film over 80F. That said, 75F is my normal for Pyrocat-HD, especially during the summer months. I, generally, knock about 15% off MDC times for continuous agitation such as on a Jobo. If development times work out to be too long, then you could bump the Pyrocat to 2:2:100 dilution which will cut overall development time.
