Just to get into a routine.
If I have film to develop I do it Tuesdays after work. Maybe make some contact sheets too and enlarge a few frames.

I was participating a weekly darkroom workshop this autumn and it was good routine for printing/getting together/learning and also for just life. The workshop should continue in spring if the covid situation is decent here and I'm probably going to attend every week.

But yes, a routine is good. Humans like routines. And as bonus - you get films and prints done.

For me it is Saturday and/or Sunday afternoon.
It's dark and cold at this latitude, so there aren't many suitable outdoor activities.
During the week I work and commute takes a chunk of the day, being at 18:30 in my town. I had the resolution of trying to squeeze a darkroom session during weekdays but I think I only did it twice: One for developing film and another to show a new photo club member the basics of printing. I have also been lazy about contact printing, and just use the scanner to have a digital contact. Practical, if anything. For some reason, once I step out of the train I am not keen on doing much more than go home and prepare the meal(s) for the next day.

Today will do my session again and invited a new member, so he can see the process. Lately I do a lot of Lith, which is quite slow but also lets me set up a parallel RC printing line. Then, on the next day, the prints are dry and ready to be flattened!

Some may find this counter-intuitive, but I find that since I retired I get much more done. I was spending too much time and energy focussed on the silly demands of my job and ignoring the important stuff--like photography.

That's a classic situation in business. Do you focus on the immediate but not important, or the important but not immediate (to get done).
