Starbucks Annual Stockholders Meeting Today

Good morning;

I think it is appropriate to point out that Harold Shulz's Starbucks Corporation is having its Annual Stockholders Meeting in McCaw Hall here in Latte Land today, Wednesday, 2010 March 24. And, they are declaring a dividend of 10 Cents per share for the first time.

No comments have been offered about the relative efficiency of their various blends as far as our application is concerned. Is this a possible area for study for one of our more technically inclined members?

hi ralph:

starbucks coffee and the other "quality" coffees are generally arabica coffee beans.
when i worked at *$, howard s. and the rest of the folks there
were HUGE into spreading the word that they didn't use robusta beans.
the coffees used in making developer are robusta coffee.
robusta coffee, is less expensive! and tends to have a higher content of caffic acid
which is the key component in the developer ( from what i have been told ? ) . i don't really understand
the higher points of how the developer works, i just like it because it is forgiving and fun to tell people
" hahaha, i used instant coffee to process my film " and see the look on their face
i have heard that most of the robusta coffee sold on the market today ( instant coffees ) comes
from vietnam, not that it matters, just a little bit of trivia

I am quite surprised to hear from you, and even more surprised to learn that you worked and swam with the Green Mermaid. Are you still in Latte Land?

And, yes, I do realize that I blew it with Howard Shultz's name. I can always blame it on having developed an excessive accumulation of years.

Regarding the source for the beans from which our instant coffee is made, if we look at almost all of the other countries with whom we have fought something like a war, almost all of them are doing much better now. If we look at the result of the Marshall Plan and the effect on the Good Ol' US of A from Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and others, plus how many of us are using Nikon, Canon, Sony, Minolta, Pentax, Mamiya, Bronica, and other cameras, watching Sony, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, and other televisions, along with driving Honda, Toyota, Subaru, and similar automobiles, and I won't even go into the motorcycles, there have been times when I have wondered if there is a country that we could declare war on, and lose. Do we still have at least a consular representative for the Duchy of Grand Fenwick?

If now we are wearing clothing made in Viet Nam, and drinking coffee derived from Viet Nam, OK.

And, I need to go to Glazer's to see if they have some obscure accessories for the older Nikon SLR cameras. And, as far as my own relationship with coffee goes, I admit that I am a known addict.
