Standard Prints size

Hi, what is the standard print paper size for exhibitions and museums ..?

There is no standard for exhibitions or museums.

In all cases it is the photographers choice.

For me personally, I always print 344 x 277mm on 40 x 30cm paper. This is because I can then reuse the 50 x 40cm window matts for subsequent exhibitions. I have also found that this is a popular size with purchasers because a framed print size 50 x 40mm is not too large or small for peoples homes and (on the rarish occasions a professional collector has bought one of my images) a properly mounted and matted image size 50 x 40cm is something that can be easily stored in the metal plan chests that they all seem to use.

any size is a standard size, just mat it so it isnt crowded by the frame

i think the small print "11x14/12x16" is better to see the true beauty of the prints, the bigger is complicated the eye will take a bit from right to left, depend on the print and viewer distance

I try to keep it simple for potential buyers. I print to sizes that fit well in 8x10", 11x14" and 16x20" mats and frames. I see photographs and mats of all sizes and proportions in museum collections.

The size of the print really is always dictated by taste and the size of the room it is eventually hung in...

Exhibition and Museums will favour larger images, if your photography suites big images, by and large they are more 'impressive'.

My personal taste is 16 x 12 Double relief mounted to 20 x 16

But by far the nicest prints I have seen recently were some 5x4 pinholes mouted 10 x 8 as a triptych

I really like 10x15" and 14x14" on 16x20" for medium sized prints. 14x21 and 19x19 for larger, and for "exhibition" size, 20x30" and 25x25". 4 inches or so of 8ply white mat surrounding on all sides.

There is no standard, but I usally go 8x10 or 11x14.

A lot of exhibitions stipulate a mount size of 500mm x 400mm to fit their frames they don't seem so bothered about the actual print size.
