120 roll film comes to you and attached to and rolled up with backing paper - that paper keeps light from the film when the film is outside the camera. What is paper backing?![]()
May be. But I never had such problems before120 roll film comes to you and attached to and rolled up with backing paper - that paper keeps light from the film when the film is outside the camera.
As it turns out, that backing paper is actually quite complex and difficult to make. In recent years a number of the film manufacturers have had more problems than usual with the film emulsion interacting with the backing paper that it is rolled up with. Those problems are sometimes related to how the film has been handled and stored.
Your "staines" look like some of those problems.
Big up your massive staines.

Don't worry, that is the comic Sacha Baron Cohen playing his character "Borat" and while he is very funny, he is just about as hard to understand for us English speakers as he would be for a non native English speaker.Sorry not native English speaker .what do you mean by big up your massive staines ?
Thank you for your message. Very helpful. I was almost sure it was not coming from my chemical baths as I processed 35mm with absolutely no problem at all. I still have one doubt and question - it is clear that it is only happening on 120 rolls but not only Delta 100. I use FP and HP5 and had similar horribles traces on the negatives. Is it possible that not only Delta 100 had paper backing issue?Yes, that is the backing paper problem. I had exactly the same marks on a roll of Delta 100 over a year ago. I don't have the scans of those negatives on the device I'm using here but it was the same.
keep all information you might still have for the roll, batch number, expiry date etc, and contact Ilford. The information to do so is at this link:

They responded to me, it took a while due to everything being locked down when I contacted them. It should be faster now. My film was replaced, the service is excellent.

Thanks for the correction. That is his Ali G character. He had three that were from his TV show. Ali G actually got a movie first. Borat was the biggest hit.
Also be sure to mention if you have more unexposed rolls of the effected/defective stock & they should replace those as well.keep all information you might still have for the roll, batch number, expiry date etc, and contact Ilford. The information to do so is at this link:
I would try taking a picture of your negative with a mobile phone camera. Make sure you see the marks.By the way what I posted is a scan I obtained from the negatives
Yes - I can see marks very clearly with magnifying loupe. I have unfortunately several films with this problem - Delta 100 500 HP5 FP4.I would try taking a picture of your negative with a mobile phone camera. Make sure you see the marks.
Do you see the defects on the film with a magnifying loupe?
