Could anybody recommend any books in which the majority of the images are square format that are also nicely designed. That I could either find myself and scan or lift a few pages from amazon. I'm putting together a photo book in which all the images will be square format for uni and need to do some researching. Ta!
Michael Kenna's books are made up of images that are mostly square or close to square. Very nicely designed. Also look at Irving Penn's books. Not all square but sections are.
Measure of Emptiness : Grain Elevators in the American Landscape (Creating the North American Landscape)
The Johns Hopkins University Press, Baltimore, 1992. 107 pp. , softcover , 8½x11
There may be the odd rectangular one tossed in there but it'd be nice to keep it all to one format. Do you think the odd regtangular image might throw out the design? I was thinking maybe one pano in the middle. It's basically just a small book of lith prints, even though we're putting this together for a digital module. Fight the pixel power.
Ask Hasselblad if they still have any Forum magazine back issues left.
All square except an issue or two devoted to the xpan. I might haven gotten the last ones though...
