Hi,

I have recently been getting spots/mottles (See photo) on the back of my Ilford multigrade FB gloss classic paper. This has occurred with two different batches of paper (8x10 , 12x16)
I am sure that I'm not splashing the paper or putting it on a wet easel for printing.

I was wondering if anyone has seen this before and could help me diagnose the problem?

Thanks for your time

I get these from time-to-time. It is just residue that has collected in the developing tray and then rubbed of on the print. Sometimes it wipes off easily, sometimes not. As long as your prints are fully fixed and washed, there should be no problem.

Best,

Doremus

That makes sense they seem to fade as they dry.

Thanks

It seems as the baryta base is "eaten" at some point.
