This is driving me crazy!
We will use the Sunny 16 rule as a base. So 125 ISO film, 125/th of a second at f-16.
I take a grey card reading in direct sun, My LunaPro is within 1/3 of a stop of Sunny 16.
My serviced Soligor spot meter reports a full 5 stops less, 1/4 second at f 16.
I've just bought a 'blad PME 3, and to my amazement it reports the same as the Soligor.

What accounts for this? The Soligor is wrong - when I expose at what it suggests I get a dense dark square of film.

I know I can adjust my my ISO setting to make the PME and Soligor report correctly.
I just don't understand why the discrepancy?
Any thoughts? I can assure you I am using all meters correctly.

The solution is simple. All the meters need to be calibrated and it would be optimal to be done at the same place with the same equipment at the same time. The PME 3 needs to be sent to Hasselblad in New Jersey which is what I did with my PME. I sent the rest to the same person for calibration. Once that has been done the reading match and that will result an fewer photographs lost.

At one time, I owned a 503CX and had a PME-5 meter for it. I seem to remember it need to be matched with a particular screen to be accurate. Hopefully, someone who knows more about Hasselblad's than I do can elaborate.

On some of the Hasselblad prisms it is possible to be done by the owner. My 45° PME does not have that. So I requested that when I had Hasselblad NJ calibrate it. They calibrated the PME but said that my model could not be corrected for my viewfinder screen and that I should just the ISO to half its value. So Kodak Tri-X 400 should be set for 200. A PITA and I ended up putting blue painter's tape on it and writing a note. Grrr .... [please fill in your preferred expletive here]

If was a Leica, you could mark your ISO and cover up the red dot all with the same piece of tape!

What was wrong with it to need service?
What model? I know the Sekonic spot meters have a menu function for calibration so you don't have to open the meter to do the calibration. Could it be that simple on the Soligor?

I sent it to a technician because it was causing almost black pictures. They said it was correct after they serviced it. Still 5 stops dark.
This baby is old, no menu on it. The meters 0's out correctly

Time for some testing but first, move the gray card out of the full sun to an evenly lit north facing spot. It may take a few rolls but it will be worth it in in the long run. Start with the meter you trust, your Luna Pro, and do a series of exposures starting with the lens cap on to establish base plus fog. Work through the speed and aperture readings that are consistent. Repeat for the other two meters. This way you can establish which of the meters is giving you the most consistent readings. You should be able to find operators manuals for the Soligar and certainly for the PME-3. Good luck, hope this helps and welcome to the forum.
