How can you split-grade print with graded paper? I though it was useful only with multi-grade.

Reminds me of the roll I've developed in Rodinal 0+100. I was pretty suprised with results until I remembered the dilution.

Mike, that's hilarious! I'd imagine you'd get pretty weak results with filtered light on graded paper. I struggled pretty good once printing with Kentmere Bromide paper and I had and Ilford filter in the upper compartment of my condenser housing. It took me a couple of sheets, mixing new chemistry, cleaning my trays, checking the enlarging lens, and looking twice at the negative before I got it.
Sometimes I just stop what I'm doing in the darkroom, look at myself and all of the goofy stuff around me and laugh out loud at what I'm doing. Us dark side people really are a little out there to be doing what we're doing.
Anyway, let us know how the Slavich behaves!

Yes, contrast control with Beer's is on a future To-Do list, but I won't get to it today. Today, I'll just do straight Slavich to get a feel for the paper.

(However, being Friday, some beers just might develop later in the afternoon )

I've tested Slavich along with three other papers, all Grade
2 Glossy FB. My batch of Slavich may have been mis-marked.
With Beer's 1 it consistently ran grade 3 + and Beer's 7
brought to 4 +.

Beer's won't give split results although it may give you
the gradation you are looking for. The SLIMT may be
your answer. A very easy Homebrew. Dan

Thomas, I feel your pain. Once while split grade printing with VC paper I did my first exposure with the 00 filter, then without thinking I placed the 5 filter in the filter drawer without removing the 00 filter. Went through all the obvious steps that you mentioned until I saw what I did. I didn't laugh out loud at the time - just added it to my "someday you'll laugh about this" list that I have (it's item #534 on the list.

Actually, I'd expect it'd work fine so long as you used the right grade of paper and gave it enough exposure. ("Enough exposure" could be quite a lot if you used more than a trivial amount of yellow filtration, though.)

you might adjust your neg development to fit on the Slavish graded paper. I understand that is a radical thought but it may be easier than the SLIMT process.

I spent an evening working with Varycon with my old Dupont filters, I put the Dupont filters above the lens in the lens cone. Cleaned up but forgot to remove the filter. A day or or later I printed with Salvich, did not even dawn on me the enlarger light was reddish, then could not figure out why the Salvich was printing so slow. Took 2 sheets before I figured it out.
