Speed Graphic back shutter adjustment?

Hello friends,

I checked the slowest focal plane shutter speed on my 4x5'' SG Anniversary, 1/10 - it appears to be out of adjustment, the negatives are somehow underexposed. I can't say they're underexposed to useless degree, but anyway I don't want it The whole principle of work of this shutter should be quite simple, and its adujstment should require not too much work. Well, does anyone know how exactly should I do it? I could have figured it out, but I am sure there should be a simple way known to APUG people

- particularly the forums (http://graflex.org/helpboard/viewforum.php?forum=1&6593). I'm sure you'll find some valuable info there. Use the "search" link and enter "focal plane tension" and check "search for all of the terms" - you'll find the info you need.

If the negative came out underexposed (and the development was OK), it would mean that the curtain is faster than it should be - which would be relatively unusual. They are usually SLOWER

Anyway, it's possible that the previous owner "serviced" it, and turned the tensioning spring a couple of turns too much.

It was common practice among sports photographers, in particular, to jack up the tension on these shutters so that the fastest speeds, ie 1/1000, would be more accurate. They seldom, if ever, used speeds below about 1/295. Settng the tension is not complicated but explaining how to do it is.
