I am in the midst of construction of workspace for post processing and printing. The workspace will have a 24" wide desktop. My question is what is the suggested clearance between the desktop and the bottom edge of the cabinet above the desk. Is 30" sufficient?
When the paper feed is fully extended, it reaches 22 inches from the desktop, so I guess 30 inches to the bottom of the cabinet would work. If the width of your desktop is 24 inches front to back, that should also work. The printer itself is 27 inches wide.
For printing large media with the front manual slot, you need considerable clearance behind the printer. I can't get at my 3800 to measure this, but believe it is at least 12 inches.
Mine is sitting on a desk top, that is 24 inch deep. I have lots of room in the front as there is nothing there to get in the way. For back feeding, it is done from the top at the rear. I have a close fit there with other equipment, but it is not a problem
When using rigid media in the front manual slot, the printer feeds the media out the back to position it for printing. 16x20 media requires a little over 12 inches clearance behind the printer.
