So, KHB has these for either $7 or $14 - see eBay item numbers 51921614d3 & 588728cb6d.
Does anyone have a cheaper source for these thumbscrews? I know I could probably use a regular screw from Home Despot, but I like the thumbscrews. I just can't justify the cost - especially since I need 5 or 6 pairs.
Anyone got a secret source, either in aluminum or stainless? Or are these custom?
Thread appears to be the very common #6-32. 32 threads per inch. Maybe try knurled Allen head machine screws at your local hardware store. Or perhaps #6-32 hex body standoffs for electronics. You'll have to watch the mechanics with the turret (nothing too long) and some of the slotted twist-to-release oval plates, which require a shoulder on the machine screw to hold the plate on.
Yes, I see that the D5 turret is always shown with those thumbscrews holding the lensplates on the turret. When Omega brought out the D5500, the turret came with standard black anodized phillips screws, so I wonder if you could just use screws from the hardware store on the D5. The thinking being that you won't need the rapid change feature if the lensplates are on the turret.
