There are good deals on the Sony a7ii kit right now. There are some newer models now though. And there are some mirror less cameras from Nikon and Canon.

Looking to spend about 2000 usd.

Are the most recent models at that price much better than the Sony a7ii??

Just wait a week and there will be a new model -- or two -- that are even better.

It's like buying a new car. It's obsolete the instant you drive off the lot. So get the "car" that fits your needs.

Unless you already have a lot of NP-FW50 batteries, I'd opt for 3rd-generation (or newer) A7 cameras using the NP-FZ100: Big difference in battery life! Don't know at what point the "My Menu" option appeared, but this is a pretty great thing to have too.

Well... define better! In my experience all cameras produced within last 5-7 years are absolutely phenomenal. When I think about "better" I mostly think about battery life and ergonomics, where I much prefer Fujifilm X-T line: hardware dials and buttons. No menus. No LCDs.
