Sometimes you just get lucky. Scored a nice olympus lens

Just purchased a minolta model E from an estate sale. Camera shutter is not moving ant speed and needs some love.
But I don’t mind because this is what I found this lens inside: So happy….. Now I am differently fixing the model E. Or LTM to M adapter for my Leica CL!
Or might adapter to M.
40mm is my favorite focal lens and I am collecting 40mm lenses.

I guess that's what they used to call a LuckyStrike. The americans apparently have much more japanese stuff than we europeans?

And the Japanese, too. During the US Occupation period, very few Japanese could afford much of anything photographic-wise, except HIT and MYCRO-style cameras (17.5mm film).

During the same period, the Europeans were putting their utterly shattered lives back together as well. In the U.S.? Everyone had lots of money. The only thing they could buy during the War were war bonds. Most things you couldn't buy -- and everything else was rationed -- but everyone had a job. When the War ended, their back accounts were over-flowing -- compared to the rest of the world. Needless to say, inflation went through the roof for two years with incredible demand and low supply.

That is quite the find. Getting the case repaired is a great idea. The case is almost as interesting as the lens itself.

Very nice find. Yes, luck certainly plays a small part. I just recently acquired a Nikon 180 f2.8 ED, which is like new in the box, all the paperwork. I find that Japan has the best selection of Japanese manufactured cameras, lenses and other equipment. EBay is the source.

'Made in Japan' was a sign of quality in the US, while that took a bit longer in Europe. Now, it's recognized worldwide.
