This 1976 Polaroid SX-70 Alpha 1 was gifted to me a while ago. I took it to a local shop and the owner said he would get to it. At one point I thought about letting the shop keep it and make some money on it but when the owners health started to decline, rather rapidly, the decision was made to close the shop and any customers should come in and pick up their cameras. I had a M4-2 to pick up and thought it would be a waste to let the Polaroid go to some third party who was there to clean out the inventory and brought it home. We were on the road most of June but when we returned I decided to send it to Retrospekt for service, the upgrade to be able to use 600 speed film and a new cover. The camera works great, the films still iffy but it's fun to hear the thunk and whirr again. As a bonus, this one came off the assembly line on my twenty second birthday.

Love the skin! I've got two SX-70 Alpha and an SLR680. Yeah, the film still ain't great and it takes darn near forever to fully develop, but I, too, just love that sound!

I ordered a Mint flash, hoping it will give me an extra kick of light for sharper photos. The other trick I’m going to try is putting it on a tripod. It seems like the shutter is hanging open too long and that my have something to do with the 600 speed modification.
