Hope this is the right place to share these Silvermax 100 ASA photos.

Developed 10m at 21.5 C in SIlvermax developer 1+25. (compensated time for high temp of developer)

Scanned on flat bed only with levelling applied.

Shot on Ricoh GR1s.

Alessandro.

Thanks. I used a standard and quite old Epson 4490 (I think that's the model number). It took me a bit of experimenting to get the best results. Happy to expand on my technique.

I think the tonal gradation is a quality of the film+dev. I was careful not too disturb it too much when I set the lowest and highest values. I wanted minimum contrast without losing a few blacks. The scanning is simple - I dismissed the plastic neg holder and lay the neg flat on the glass emulsion side down. Somehow I feel lucky that they came out so well - but it was as if the film/dev/scanner combination already knew exactly what I had envisioned.

I would like to try the film in R09, next. It's not necessary, but I'm a little curious.

This is a nice film.

I've shot about 5 rolls of silvermax as well.
I agree, it's a nice film.

Can we see them?

What developer did you use?
I've been using the dedicated silvermax developer so far. Probably going to try either HC110 or t-max developer next as I ran out of the dedicated stuff.
I haven't got most of my scanned shots on this laptop, only this shot of a friend.

My guess is an old-school developer might get you more mileage. I'd D23 (just 2 ingredients) or something along those lines.

A good range of tones. Look forward to seeing some HC110. I have a feeling that using Silvermax too often is going to expensive - especially when I process a Super 8 reel of this film stock..

That's interesting. What would D23 bring over R09?

Silvermax is a combination of traditional shaped silver grain and t-shaped grain. What kinds of developer would suit that?

It's a nice simple fine grained developer.

It does sound like an interesting developer, and I like the examples I've found. Thanks for the advice.

It's also capable of much higher contrast than people give it credit for. I find a happy dilution 1:2 or 1:3.
