I was recently help someone un-jam their Medalist and ended up making some images to show them how to set up the wind mechanism and what to watch for. I posted it to Instagram just because, and then did something laying out the rangefinder parts and such. I figure I'll post links to the Instagram if anyone is interested. Pretty sloppy but they are functional, not pretty.

Is it possible to get them at a better resolution, the text is difficult to read on the Instagram shots.

I can't see the photos. It just says "Loading Instagram..." Maybe you need an Instagram account to view them.

Dumped the photos into two new threads in the Camera Build and Repair forum here.

(I may be mistaken, but the 'Loading Instagram' text is a link to the Instagram web site posts. For me, if I click the text I get sent to my post. Maybe that's a cookie issue or something. I don't understand the huge empty box around he text! Not sure if you must have an instagram account.

I have taken the viewfinder cover off but not the others. Anything that I need to watch out for when removing them?

I have taken the viewfinder cover off but not the others. Anything that I need to watch out for when removing them?

Which model, I or II? On the first version (I), the focus scale is integrated to the cover. Before removing, rack lens all the way out and note where the 3-1/2 foot mark is. Should be under the infrared red dot. When you take off the cover, the scale will rotate back under spring force. To reinstall, you need to remove the glass cover plate (two set screws on side, very very small! lift edge with finger nail) and rotate the dial to get 3 foot to line up again. Clockwise, I think? Reinstall cover cover, wiggle a bit to get teeth engaged, and see if you hit it.

I/1 also has a screw going into the shutter release button, and that button needs to be aligned for working and reinstallation.

II/2 is pretty basic, no traps. Check washers on wind knob top (look inside the cover to check for a hiding one). And felt light trap around shutter button. Also small ring under the small round window on right side of viewfinder is easy to have drop out and not notice (then again, who cares? has no real world function).

Thanks!

I have one in the queue on my bench for a CLA and conversion to 120 film. Not sure when I'll get to it though.
