Does anyone know a trick how to reassemble the advance clutch on my Rolleicord Vb? I know where the parts are supposed to go but I can't figure out how to cram everything inside...

I used my Rolleicord in -25°C weather and the freshly serviced shutter did great, but the advance clutch nearly seized (got extremely hard to turn), which is why I disassembled it in the first place

Thanks in advance!

Edit: How can I make images smaller? This is ridiculous :D

I'll use the top slot to describe. And I'm pretty certain that we are seeing the 'outside' of the plate, the side with the wind knob, not the spool tab. Knob should turn clockwise to go forward, not turn counterclockwise. (Any bets on how much longer we can use 'clockwise' and assume that people know what an analog clock face looks like and which direction the hands move?)

So moving from left to right across the top slot, the metal barrel goes on the left side. The Spring goes on the right side. The metal barrel stands upright. The spring goes in with the two legs pointing to the top and so that pressure would be applied to the right end of the slot and the barrel- flats of the metal facing the barrel and the right end of slot.

The basic concept is that when the knob is turned in one direction, the barrel can be pulled forward with rotation and into the spring. When turned the other way, the spring will push the barrel back and the knob jams against the barrel.

So install the knob itself. Install barrel upright. Install spring. Keep a finger over the spring because it's a spring and will go flying given the chance (although that heavy metal won't go that far). I put some moly grease in this assembly but I am not certain if it is needed.

Haha, good question :D

Thank you so much for your detailed explanation! I was aware of how it was supposed to work but somehow didn't realize I kept inserting the springs incorrectly... Your description helped a lot!

In case anyone else has the same issue, I did my best to draw the orientation of the spring.
