I have already consulted the manual and google and I still have no idea what is going on. I have a Minolta Dynax 9 Body which is new to me with the DM-9 back and the grip, and the following happens:

When the "eye control" of the AF is activated, all manual exposure adjustement is dead, both wheels have no function at all. Therefore no M, no A, no S and no "creative shift" in P - the camera keeps the last exposure reading and that´s it. When the "eye control" is off (and that is the only change I am making, using the switch at the back side bottom), all M,A,S and "P-shift" functions work as expected.

Does anybody have the slightest idea what is going on? Is there a custom function I am missing, or is this a known bug?

Thanks for your help!

I have the 9 with grip, don't have the data back, but no issues with AF eye start and manual exposure. Unless a very odd feature of the DM 9 back, likely something wrong with the camera.

Hi there, perhaps custom function 15 is set to 2; this setting locks/unlocks the control dial wtih the eye-start switch, to lock exposure. Setting cust 15 to 1 will remove this lock.
Cheers,
Jan

Thank you! You made my day. Cust 15 was set to 3 - with 1 the camera is working perfectly!

If you are ever in Augsburg, give me a heads up - drinks are on me!

I must have missed that when I looked over the manual. Seems like you figured it out.
