Rolleiflex MX-EVS with Tessar lens, 10-bladed aperture. Fully overhauled by me. Mamiya matte screen. Grip-Tac covering.

Overhauled means shutter cleaned and lubed and timed, wind system cleaned and lubed and working smoothly, focus cleaned and lubed and smooth, focus aligned between taking and viewing lens, aperture and shutter dials smooth. New mirror installed. The Mamiya screen is bright and fine-grained with much more even illumination than ground glass.

This is an early version of this model, with one of the Synchro-Compur shutters that still had 10 blades. In operation, the EV system that locks the aperture and shutter together is basically not there (deliberately loosened up in the overhaul because I don't like it).

Grip-Tac is my favorite TLR material with a great feel.

All in all, the camera is probably 'very good,' excellent mechanically, minimal signs of wear, etc. But it's shooter, nowhere near mint! So I guess this makes it a Japanese EXC+++

I've been using this camera for the last couple of months and enjoying it, but I have some Autocords to shoot and I need to feed my landlord's kids, so time for it to move on...

$425 OBO plus shipping ($16 US, others inquire) (strap not included)

I'd be all over this if I didn't already have one. Nice camera... wish mine had the better screen.

I'm ready to buy a Medalist when you overhaul another one of those.

I think you've priced it right, I have my own in front of me an earlier Automat MX just back from a CLA/Repair, that's what I'd sell mine for, $900 would get someone a very good f3.5 E2.

Great work horse cameras with an excellent Tessar lens, I love the results from mine.

Beautiful! If I hadn't just bought a 3.5f (for a lot more money) I would've grabbed this one. That said, I'm still waiting for one of your Autocords to show up...

Actually, there's been even more inflation in the Japanese camera ratings market and an EXC 3+ is "fair" condition now. Your camera probably qualifies as a EXC 5+ or NEAR MINT. Good luck with your sale!

I used to really appreciate the Japanese rating system but now it's garbage. Cameras with rust and peeling trim are labeled as "Near Mint" or "Excellent+++++" (what the hell is 5 pluses for? I live here and don't understand.) It's clear once you look at the photos how poor the ratings are with many of the sellers. That said, some (very few) have much more realistic evaluations and pricing to match.
