I purchased this Rolleiflex 2.8C from Koh’s Camera and it was CLA’d prior to my receiving it. It also had a new focussing screen installed.
The camera is in very good shape for its age, with minor scuffs on the leather, and one ding to the metal (see photo), which has zero effect on the functionality of the camera.
Shutter speeds are up to spec. The lenses are clean and clear. The Xenotar taking lens has a bit of coating pitting, common on these lenses, which does not seem to affect the sharpness of the images, nor the color. I have not noticed any more flare than I would expect from a lens made in the 1950s. At least the Xenotars aren’t suffering as much as the Zeiss planars from this period - many of those are showing element separation.
The Xenotar 80mm f2.8 lens in this camera was the last with 10 aperture blades, which results in a very smooth look in the out of focus areas. Subsequent lenses in later models all had 5 bladed apertures.
The advance is very smooth, and the frame spacing very even.
The viewfinder is clear, with a split-image center focussing aid. Very easy to use.
Comes with 2 aftermarket black & white filters and hood. Also included is a Rolleinar 2 closeup lens. This is also clean and clear and works very well. Also, a new strap is included, and the original metal lens cap. All-in-all, a nice set that makes very good images. A classic in every sense of the word.
