Alan,

Do you know the difference between the Durst 1000 Taunoneg carrier and Otoneg carrier? I have the L1000 and the Otoneg carrier, but I don't know if your Otopfe inserts will fit in the Otoneg carrier

These codes names make me feel as if I am in a very weird movie . . .

Hi Michael.
I have the l1000 myself and the Otoneg 2 carrier. I have the same inserts as is being sold here, so I can confirm that they fit

Thanks Mads !

Perhaps you, or Alan, or anyone else can answer some more questions?

- do these inserts come in two pieces of metal? If yes is it possible to only use the bottom one and leave the AN glass in the top part of the carrier?

- with the 6X6 and 135 inserts, do they go into image? Or do they show a black border? If not I assume they could be filed out?

- is it easy to change the glasses for these inserts?

Thanks, Michael

Hi Michael,

Each pair of plates measures 6.1 x 4.9 inches (155x125mm) Top plate is 0.1 inch thick bottom is 0.05 thick (2.5 and 1.8mm)

You could not use with AN glass on top as the bottom plates have location pegs that are used to locate either individual negatives or when the bottom plate is turned over a strip of negatives - see the photo here showing all the pegs for locating a single 35mm negative. I don't know what you mean by "go into the image" -= 6x6 cutout is 55mm square and 35mm cutout is 35x23mm.

Hi Michael.
Alan is of course right, but you can use the "top" part of the negative makswhich doesn't have any pegs on the bottom of your taunoneg carrier, and then it is possible to use it with your an glass on top (have done so myself).
The negative carriers do cut of a bit of the negative, however they are easy to file out.

And alan good luck with the sale, I'm tempted to buy these myself just to have spares. They are quite rare!

Best Regards
Mads

Thanks Mads,

Michael, If you do use the top plate on the bottom you get a slightly larger cutout 56x56mm or 37x25
4x5 plates are 118x94 mm and 120x96 mm.

Alan, Mads,

Thanks a lot for your information. Now all is clear. And guess what ! When looking for my extra Otoneg holder this morning, I found I have the Otopfe inserts already! Bizarre. I had forgotten they came with the enlarger.

Mads, if I were you I would get them. My L1000 is not my main enlarger (those are Focomat 1C and 2C), so I go slow on extra parts. But for the Leitz enlargers I do get the extra parts. So important . . .

Good luck Alan !

Hi Lorne,
Yes, both are available as Fred9000k did not get back to me.
Alan
Excellent. I am having trouble sending you a direct message Alan - the system is giving me an error. Can you message me? Should I put my email in this thread?
