Hi Hap. When I bought it the lens was listed as R-only. Have a look at the new photo I just added. I believe it is R-only. I only used it with an R-to E-mount adapter so I cannot vouch with certainty.

thanks for responding. I understand it is R system lens. Was uncertain if it was a 2 or 3 cam R lens. It probably is 3cam but maybe someone looking will spy out the cams. My eyes are not that good.

R only was introduced later, before ROM showed up to R8/9 bodies. Cams were in from the start and added on as features changed but to retain backward compatibility the "first 2 cams" were retained until Leica decided enough is enough. So those "first 2 cams" were dropped and R Only was introduced.

there is no mistaking the first two cams -- they are very shiny chrome metal shapes half an inch or more long that run parallel to the inside edge of the lens mount on the lens and actuate levers in the Leicaflex SL and SL2 camera to show lens opening and tell the camera what the max aperture of the lens is.

This is a 3rd cam only lens -- that black rectangular thing on the inside of the rim of the mount. It links to a sliding thing inside the camera to do the same things the first two cams did on earlier cameras. It's a lovely lens but won't even mount on an SL or SL2 or earlier Leicaflex.
