For sale is a Mentor 5x7 metal field camera with a 4x5 reducing back. This is one of the few large format cameras that has a focal plane shutter. The shutter is working properly, and has speeds of 1/100s to 1/5s, flash sync, B and T. This is perfect for those of you who use barrel lenses or dry or wet plates.
The camera has geared front rise and swing, manual tilt & shift. The rear has micro swing, tilt and extension bellows. Both 5x7 and 4x5 backs are wooden adapted backs that take modern holders. The back has a revolving mechanism, so you don't need to turn the camera on the side. The backs themselves can be inserted in either portrait or landcape orientation. The bellows extends from ~125mm to ~560mm. The rear bellows adds ~40mm extension. The camera with the 5x7 back weighs ~7 kilos.
The camera's lens board size is 142 x 140mm, just slightly longer than a regular Sinar board. To use Sinar boards, I think you'd need to add a strip of metal or wood at the bottom and use a wider retaining tab. A Linhof Technika adapter lens board is included. The bellows is light-tight and supple. All movements and locks work properly.
