This is
NOT a true rangefinder, as it lacks the optics normally found on a rangefinder. As such, the photographer will need an alternate method to determine distance to the subject, then set meter accordingly. I recommend using with distant subjects, or where distance to the subject can be determined before hand (e.g., you're at a football game, sitting in the grandstand, and you know the distance to the center of the field and both ends). The difference between setting the lens focus from 100' to Infinity is just a fraction of a turn of the lens, while setting the focus from 3' to 15' might require a quarter-turn. Simply put, close subjects will be harder to focus accurately than distant subjects.
Still, if you're a Leica collector, here's a very nice specimen for that collection!
$500 plus S/H.
