This basically is a new old stock Jupiter 8, in the last design they made. I bought it from an Eastern Bloc seller a while back, and then again forgot about it. Comes in the bakelite case, no caps which is kinda weird, but a shim in case you need to shim it?
No marks on the lens that I can see - glass or on body. A very small, cute little thing. The issue I have with it is the aperture is clickless (which many lenses - cough 7Artisan cough - are nowadays from the 3rd tier mfgs). The aperture ring is very light (not loose or failing) so it is easy to change the setting w/o realizing it. This wouldn't matter on something like the amazing Leica M7 in auto mode, but may need you to check yourself before you wreck yourself with a manual only camera.
Fedka sells these $180 new, $85.50 used in EXC-. Plus $20 shipping.

Me? WAS: $70 + $15.50. NOW: $50 + $15.50

PEACE!

Sweetening the pot.... 1 free Kodak Fling camera with every purchase. Until I run out of them...

Ok not much of an incentive but it did bumpski!

No love for this lens?

Comments good or bad welcome from the peanut gallery! Anything that bumpksis this listing!

No-one wants this bottle cap for $50? What is right with you people?

I have a pretty clean 1956 chrome for years now... from a Zorki to a Canon7 to a Leica CL and to the M4-2 this little lens delivers...
Would like a black one to better match the black M4-2 but customs in Europe will rise the price higher than it should...
But someone do get it and try it... nothing to lose at this price, only to gain.

Someone grab this bargain. I have one, so I do not need another copy. Here are a few more examples using Panatomic-X film in a Leica IIIC camera. Hint: use a hood.

The J8 is a good lens. I had one on a screw mount Leica, and it gave great photos. Not as sharp as a Summicron, but not $$$ either, and it was plenty sharp enough. Excellent IQ too. I seem to remember that mine was especially good close up and wide open.

Well, this sold on ebay for $70. So as much as I whine about ebay, it kinda works....
