I swapped for this camera so I could give 8x10 a try. Sure enough, I LOVE the format. My goal was to give it a try, and then pick up a field camera. I've ended up snagging a Svedoskvy 8x10, so this one needs a new home.
You'll be getting:
Gibellini P810GP 8x10 camera
Schneider 300mm barrel lens (in other words, you'll be using the lens cap as the shutter....works fine, trust me)
The lens is essentially tossed in. Pricing is for the camera and both bellows.
Camera is in great shape, extra parts, and has both normal bellows and bag bellows. It's the prototype of their current GP810, which will run you around $5100 euros to pick up. Not a lot of them produced and Alessandro, Mr. Gibellini himself, has one of the cameras in his collection.
Description from previous owner:
"For sale is a Gibellini folding monorail camera. There were just a few of these made as it’s a precursor to his current GP{810 (which is priced at 5100 euro). The owner of Gibellini has one in his collection as well. The camera is really great to work with - it functions like a monorail, but folds like a field camera.
Focus is via a knob in the back like Chamonix. There is a ton of shift (both front and rear). Front rise/fall and tilt are on separate locks, so you can adjust one without messing up the other. In terms of movement, there’s as much rear shift as you need (similar to Canham - as much as the standard is wide), 40mm front rise, 70mm front fall, 35mm front shift, and swing/tilt are both bellows limited.
In terms of lenses, you can focus a 120 at infinity and have a max of approximately 20in on the long side. It’s awesome for wide angle work because the rear standard slides along the track (no worry about getting the bed in the frame). The camera comes with both a normal and bag bellows. The bag is white, which helps to keep the camera cool in the summer sun. The standard is black. It takes sinar lens boards. I’m selling because the camera is too light for me(I know, sounds silly). I shoot a lot of long exposures and find myself lugging a sandbag along with this camera, so I’ve switched to a heavier monorail that has a lot more mass."
