Back to folding cameras. I am offering...
An Agfa Isolette L equipped with a very nice, coated, 85mm f4.5 Color Apotar lens set in a nice little Pronto shutter with speeds from 1/25 to 1/200 and a Bulb setting. There is a leather case in excellent condition that comes with this camera. It was produced from 1957 and 1960 and was the last of the Agfa Isolette line. The camera is in excellent condition and needs no work. It is ready to take pictures.
The Color Apotar is a triplet lens and it is quite good. The lens is clear and clean with no scratches or fungus. Wide open the center is very sharp, which works well for pictures of your family and others. Obviously with the lens closed down to about f/11 it produces images that are amazingly good, and when taken from a tripod it is almost impossible for me to tell the difference from pictures take with my Solinar lens. The camera actually comes with a mask that folds out from each side but I have neer used it. I believe it was originally intended for use with 35mm film but I there is no adapter kit with this camera.
The camera is equipped with an uncoupled light meter that still works. It seems to be pretty accurate when compared against my little Sekonic Twinmate. It has ASA settings for ASA 12 thru 800 so it is equipped to handle most available modern 120 films.
As is obvious from the photos this camera has a brand new bellows in a beautiful blue color so there are no light leaks to worry about
Focus works without problems so it is pretty clear there is none of the AGFA green glue in the focusing helical. The focus is front of lens only but seems to be pretty accurate though I haven’t tested it with a focus target. Rather than focus exactly I normally use the DOF scale on the front of the lens and it seems to work pretty well and I have never really felt the need for an external rangefinder.
The front standard pops out quickly when the button on the side is pressed. Everything locks solidly into place. The struts and mechanical parts are straight and look good. There is no evidence that anything is bent or out of alignment.
The aperture adjusts from f4.5 to f22. There is no oil on the aperture blades.
The shutter works well. The speeds are a little slow but very consistent.
- 1/25 = 1/15
- 1/50 = 1/30
- 1/100 = 1/60
- 1/200 = 1/180
Even though simple, this is a terrific little camera. It is light, easy to carry and very easy to use. Yet the pictures it produces are of very high quality. I really enjoy using this camera but I have so many of these little Agfa Isolettes that some of them have to go.
I am asking $250 USD for this camera. I accept Paypal or USPS Money Orders. I only sell and ship within the continental United States. Shipping and Paypal fees are included in the price. I ship USPS Priority Mail.
Enjoy the pictures and thanks for looking.
