Hrmm. Well, while I don't want to make a false statement....
I have a Wollensak Velostigmat, with the adjustable SF ring. While i haven't fully tested it yet, I can say that I firmly believe I can stop down to F/22, set the ring to MAX, and I'd still have soft focus. While the background bokeh may not be desirable, Im sure it would still be soft...no ?
(This is sad...I REALLY need to make some time to get this lens in the field...)
Rob, I have the 180mm Fujinon sf lens which comes with the two discs (red & yellow). It will give a "soft focus" effect, but it does not exhibit the "swirly bokeh" of the older lenses. Once you stop down to the point that the aperture is inside the inner circle of the disc, all effects are gone and you essentially have a "normal" lens. This is not to say that images are not pleasing with the lens, but that the type of soft focus is entirely different with this lens. Best, tim
P.S. Will try to dig out an image to post, but need to get to work now.
