...also known as the 'Masterview'. Now I'm ready! While I'm dying to shoot with the E & H.T. Anthony, the Kodak is the one I'm ready to get a lens for and start burning the film on. It's an oldie but a real beauty. Quite loved I'd say. Obviously been in storage for some time (musty) but ready to be cleaned up and used. I'll try and post images of the camera tomorrow. It's late. Just wanted to share my enthusiasm at getting this camera in today!!!

Congratulations on the MV Dorthy....just wait until you pull that first 8x10 negative out..it will take your breath away. The Korona that arrived about 3 months ago, was the same - loved but very musty (attic storage I think) and was in it's original (but falling apart) case. Most of the musty smell is gone now, from all the use it has had recently...so the best way to get rid of that smell is to use it

Kodak made a 5x7 reducing back for the Masterview. As far as I know they never made a 5x7 camera.

I forgot! Dorothy enjoy your camera, it really is a treat to use and will happily do anything you ask it to do. Well photographically at least. Some people seem to have relationships with their cameras that venture into the personal and I don't want to go there... Have fun!

Donald...thanks for the referral to Michael Smith on the extra boards. The camera actually came with one extra (I lucked out!) but that is always good to know. Thanks!!

Can I tell you? I'm just about to explode! I am so ready to be out there burning the film up!!! I'm getting ready to place an order with J and C for some 8x10 film. Still need to get holders and, oh yeah...a lens!!!!

Other than that...I am ready!!!!! Plan on cleaning it up a bit today. I think I may also order new ground glass (just to add to Dave's l-o-n-g list of orders he already has

I did find out from a kind photographer friend that the camera dates from 1944-49.

Oh, and Richard...I am more than "smitten" with this camera!!!

Welcome to the club! I started off with a Calumet C1 and then moved to the Kodak Master. I can't imagine a better camera. Sometimes there is a part under the front standard like a rectangular flat washer that wears out and if yours is thin, there is a guy - Greg Davis - who sells them new for only $15.00. Other than bellows there isn't much to ever wear out.

Enjoy yourself and make amazing images.

Not a 5x7 Master but I am looking right at an Eastman Kodak model 2D 5x7. It is definately not an 8x10 in disguise.

I have a 5x7 2D. It's all wood, as opposed to the Masterview, which I understand is made of aluminum and brass.

I would love to get my hands on one of those, but I'd prefer to stay with 5x7, at least for now.

Nice purchase. I think the Master View is by far the best of the older 8x10 cameras.
