SMC Pentax 67 55mm f/4 filter size.

Just got a very nice 55 mm for my 67s, but have a little problem. What is the filter size??? It says 77mm everywhere, but I tried one i took off a canon and it doesn't fit. It seems too big. Don't have a 72 or 67 to try, so thought to ask.

I have the same lens. Filter size is 77mm.
And my Canon 77mm filter will fit the SMC P 55 f4.

Thanks mate, but there doesn't even seem to be a thread there. Don't know what's going on. Shot with it and it works fine.

After closer inspection I think there may be a filter without the actual lens stuck in there. It probably got stuck, broken and all glass removed. Well...

Sounds like he/she screwed the filter on so tightly that he/she then could not remove it, so smashed the glass and left the filter body there. Eugh.
But hang on to that lens, it is one of the best performers in the SMCP line up.
My only grizzle is the weight of the thing, but then it uses an old Distagon design with big elements. The 45mm f4 is just as good.

trouble is the 45 is a 82mm filter, as is the 75 f4. The 90mm f2.8 is 67mm. And it seems the 55f4 is 77mm...Pity it couldn't be one or the other. Maybe Pentax has shares in a filter adapter company.

All those filter sizes... sounds just like Canon, too: 67mm, 72mm, 77m, 82mm... so what fits one system also fits another...handy!

Will have to live with it, I suppose. Will ask a technician next time I take a camera for service.
