Smashed the Plustek with a hammer

Plustek doesn't have a reputation for the highest quality, no.

You could still scan your negatives with the v700 for uploading if you want.

I absolutely loved my time in the darkroom, but environmental concerns caused my FAVORITE pasttime in the darkroom -- printing transparencies on Cibachrome paper (later 'Ilfochrome') -- to no longer be possible. Now my favorite color emulsions have been discontinued, too!
Sadly, it has recently pained me to sell close to $6000 in darkroom equipment for less than $1000.

Did you consider removing the lid and attempting to clean the scanning array, eg using a rocket blower and wet wipes.

It sounds like the OP has removed both the top cover and the dust that was on the scanners optics .
Apparently it's still not functioning correctly and has failed to power up .

Possibly the wrong tool was used for disassembly ?

Did you try to fix that with a hammer as well?
I do not believe 'fixing' was the purpose for which the tool was applied to the POS scanner.

When SpaceX crashes one of their test vehicles, Elon Musk refers to it as a RUD. RAPID UNPLANNED DISASSEMBLY

I've made plenty of beautiful silver prints, and also plenty of digital carbon prints. Both really have their unique qualities, kind of like Strand's silver prints and his gravures.

Honestly, it's easier for me to make a good quality silver print, and I think it takes less time.

It's all photography. I try to know both processes, to mix it up and to not be dogmatic.

Nope. Nothing unintelligent about a bit of violence once in a while. Especially when deserved.
Absolutely true. People that waste their life tinkering with junk are fools.
I have a nice little Coolscan for slides, I use VueScan to run it. I have one of the last scanners Canon made that I use for 6x17 Fujichrome. I don't waste my time with color negative film, it's much easier to print them.

I doubt I will ever buy another scanner. I'm never buying anything from Epson.

You did well!

One of the Best Shows of all time. I can't remember the name of his Portuguese waiter? My goodness. I need to check to see if I can watch these on Britbox or the Prime BBC feeds.
Manuel
Que?
May not be suitable for some workplaces!
Andrew Sachs, who played Manuel, passed away in 2016.

Keeping images in a computer? Files? The most pointless thing ever. I go crazy sitting at a computer “working” on files. It has to be the most pathetic “leisure” in humanity.

I love photography, I breathe photography. But ask me to stop using film and I’ll quit shooting forever.

A photograph is a print. Anything else is a faux-tograph. And I don’t waste my time with fauxtography.

It Is Time! Rise up and free Apug from the digital tyranny.
Swing those hammers!

I like the darkroom but I scan as well. My old 7600 has been working reliably for years, and I bought it used. I pull the cover occasionally and clean things up, does wonders for the scans.

I have been known to take a shower occasionally and I feel much better afterwards. I suspect our machines work better after an occasional cleaning as well.

But I can also relate to the satisfaction that comes from taking a hammer after something that has been frustrating you.

I suspect he is doing more fixing in the darkroom than he did in the driveway.

Sounds to me like the Plustek should have been retired as worn out, rather than subjected to the ignominy of being shattered by force, and then have its demise celebrated.
Our tools, no matter how mundane they may be, ought to be respected!
Is there a stir-the-pot emoji?
