I have some spray dry lubricant. What is the trick when applying it with a qtip onto parts? Spraying it into a plastic bag so it doesn't dry quickly? Because spraying out in the open it dries pretty much immediately. Is there a slower drying lube fortified with moly or graphite that gives me a little time to work with and maybe even spreads around in the gears before drying fully?

The trick is to use a dry Teflon lube that isn’t in a spray can.

I would use in such cases a small container of the kind of testtube.

GYF (Kodak) recommended using a light oil(watch etc.). 1. apply the oil, then apply powdered moly.
Got this from a Medalist II service manual.

... circa 1945, I presume. Lubrication science has evolved with many newer and better options.

But it worked then and would work today too.

I bought some "dupont non-stick dry-film lubricant" in a squeeze bottle. The fine print says it's made by finish line. So it's basically the dry wax type bike chain lube.
