Sloppy/loose lens cap on my new Blad CM

Hi all ... It's finally arrived ... Shipped from USA on Dec 17th and on my doorstep today (13th Jan) ... That's 27 long days ... But I won't complain.
Anyway, I'm starting to get myself familiarized with it and one of the first things I have noticed is how useless the Hasselblad lens cap is. The lens is a f2.8/80mm CF Planar. The cap looks fine. Doesn't seem to be overly worn in any way. It just doesn't fit very tightly and seems to want to fall off with the slightest anticlockwise nudge. Is this normal? Is there a fix? Alternative?

I use a UV/Warming filter as a cap and take it off when I shoot. Have never had much luck with Hassy caps.

I had a 500C/M with the chrome Plannar 80/2.8 and a plastic screw-on cap - it was quite tight ...

The cap's worn, you could try a little rubber/contact cement on the bayonet flanges in the cap, just something to snug it up. Let it dry thoroughly before using it & you may need to freshen it up once & again.

Normally the caps are so tight that you will unscrew a filter, if you have one on, before that cap will come off. I like them a little loose.

My caps were tight when new but got loose over the years, just like yours. It's normal. I have not tried John suggestion, but it sounds worth giving it a go.

A Hasselblad representative at Photokina told me once, that this is Hasselblad's way to tell me to take the cap of and start making images. When I told him that the filters don't fit very tight either. He said, that this is their way of telling me that their lenses don't like filters. I shook my head and left him standing there. I wonder if their lenses like the new images sensors they are projecting onto now. Good cameras, arrogant customer representatives.

I usually do not have a problem with loose lens caps, but there is not much of a turn to get it to grip or release.

And yes I have had a problem with the lens cap removing the filter sometimes.

When you have more than one lens switch the lens caps around to see which combination works best.

The translation of a virgin lens cap would be "gutten tight".

I had similar problem with my Mamiya RZ lens caps. I went onto ebay and bought 5 x 77mm Nikon copy lens caps for cheap. They fit nice and tightly on the Mamiya lenses. You could do something similar for your lenses I am sure...

I use a Bay 60 to 67mm adapter on each of my lenses because 67mm filters are less expensive. I leave the adapter (and usually a filter) on the lens but protect it with an inexpensive 67mm snap cap. The Hasselblad lens cap stays in a safe place should (heaven forbid) I ever sell a lens.
