Ladies & Gentlemen:

I have a slick studio tripod. The quick release screw is supposed to come out of the locking plate when the locking lever is in the open position. My QR screw is stuck in the locking plate. The locking lever still tightens the QR screw into the locking plate when moved to its "locked" position, but when the locking lever is in the fully open position, the QR screw is still captive and won't come out.

How do I fix this?

Did you rotate the lever to release the screw? IIRC, the lever rotates before you flip it out to release the stud.

Hi @Rick A

Yes - I've used this tripod for years, and understand the rotation between open & locked positions. The locked position still locks the stud, but in the open position, the stud will no longer come out of the locking plate. This isn't a simple sticking. I put a washer and nut on the stud and tried to pry it out with a small pry bar - it didn't budge. Something in the locking plate has come loose and is jamming the stud?

I had a problem with a different tripod, different company, related to the quick release plate not being let go. I finally called the company and was told that, in my case, I had to do something one would not think to do and the problem was solved. Contact the company and ask for help. What do you have to loose.

I got this fixed! How? I put the locking cam for the camera screw in the open position, held the tripod upside down, and shook it. After a few seconds, the camera screw fell out along with a small piece of hard green plastic that was also in the socket. Once the foreign debris was removed, the cam works perfectly again!
