We tested making b&w slides on ORWO Duplicating Positive Film DP 3.
I did tests reversible processing film for ORWO Duplicating Positive Film DP 3.
ORWO DP 3 is about 30 years old.
ORWO DP 3 is a film with a contrast between negative and positive.
It is a contrast close to of a slide.
He has a fog of negative and has a mauve color.
The fog and mauve color reduce the sensation of contrast.
The image tells you something from a dup positive image.

Exposure errors are more permissive than in a classic slide.
I considered the sensitivity of ORWO Duplicating Positive Film DP 3 = 10 DIN.
The film did not stay on the guides of scanned and that the perforations are those lights.

Hi George,

Are you duplicating a negative on DP3 to create a positive? Or are you shooting on DP3 and then inverting?

The highlights do not look so good.

Hello Flavio,

b&w slides on ORWO Duplicating Positive Film DP 3
I make direct positive images on ORWO DP 3 (slides).
I took the film, I photographed and then I process reversible black and white Orwo DP 3 film.
Duplicate positive image (DP 3) is not just as a positive image.
At the positive, the contrast is given by the contrast of negative film (0.6) X contrast of positive film (2.4) ~ 1.5.
At the duplicate positive Orwo DP 3, the contrast is given by the contrast of negative film (0.6) X contrast of duplicate positive Orwo DP 3 (1.6) ~ 1.0.
So, at the duplicate positive DP 3 the contrast is lower by ~ 33% compared to a positive image.
At the reversible black and white DP 3 the contrast is given by the contrast of of the reversible process of Orwo DP 3.
When I make tests to transfer motion films in digital (telecine), we concluded that the best information we have in the film:
- Negative;
- Internegative or interpositiv color;
- Duplicate positive or duplicate negative black and white.
In short, best information we have in the negative film or the multiplicate materials.
I make the tests with transfer motion films in digital (telecine) by ~ 1997.
In the positive film the information is poorer / distorted, there are areas in the image where playback is not reality.
Positive can not play the full range of the negative glow.
Possible problems can occur in open or closed areas in the image.
White appears as a burning in white and black as a black spot without details.
Back to images made on reversible Orwo DP 3.
The 2 photo they are totally different gen.
The image scale was be evenly lit and textile material has contributed to lack of contrast.
The image to the outside, the sky and the sun had I had less and I enter in the objective.
See the white spot on the housing „CAFENEA JUPITER”.
In the photo outside, although the range is higher than the glow scale reproduction is correct.
I hope to touch this.

Hello Flavio,

I see that you do not really like somewhat lower contrast images.
Here's a test processing in black and white reversible positive ORWO PF2.
ORWO Positive Print Film PF 2 processing as a positive, the contrast is 2.8, compared to a positive image is ~ 1.4.
So, in reversible processing black and white must be reduced the contrast.
I do not like the pictures so contrasts.

George
