Slide projector

Hello guys.
Please, I need your advice.
My grandpa has about 3000 reversal films ( 3000 photos ). He asked me if I could obtain slide projector Hanimex. I don't know why he wanted exactly Hanimex brand, but here in europe it is quite hard to find any Hanimex Slide Projector, if possible only used old models. Could you advice me some really good slide projector on which he will be able to watch these reversal films comfortably ? If possible some newer model which can be bought new. Or I don't know if is there any other way I could help him as my knowledge in this matter is really equal to zero. Thank you !

(IMO) it's not worth looking for a Hanimex (co-)branded projector above all others.
There are countless different options for a used slide projector (and a few for a new one).
What about your budget ? Does your father wants AF or manual focus?
I would go for a used one - maybe a Rollei (P66 = for 35mm and 6x6 - AF - about 200 EUR in good condition) or a Leitz Pradovit CA 2500 or 2502 (35mm, AF = in very good condition for about 60-70EUR).
We have similar threads about slide projectors - may be you will find a few suggestions.

I never came around such projector, aside of toy projectors, but Leitz made some manual-slider models that accept a film strip guide instead of the regular slider for mounted film.

I never came across a Hanimex projector, neither have ever seen a review on it. In Slovakia they must even be much rarer...

There are two main aspects with slide projectors: optics and comfort in handling
Then comes compatibility with the given trays. With 3000 slides this even becomes a main issue, if they are in trays already.
Mains voltage is another issue on the long term with used projectors.

Nevertheless I would just start with any used projector in neat state that appeals to me. Here they are amongst the cheapest photographic items that can be bought locally. I expect that to be the same in Slovakia, though I do not know the spread of projectors over the last decades.
In use certain features may appear that one would like to change, then one may start looking/asking for an apt model.

Otherwise ask member Henning Serger, he made a list with recommended projectors, and is a slide projection specialist here.

The film-strip projectors used in class rooms in the past used unmounted strips of 35mm, IIRC. BUT, the images were essentially half-frame; they were all horizontally oriented. That is to say the film entered the projector from the top. So, if you have a half-frame camera and don't shoot vertical pix, one of these would be just the ticket. You might check with the media center at a local school, if they haven't cleaned out the store room.....

Not here in Europe, film strips were transported horizontally. The strips were typically educational ones.
