One of my friend was shooting Fuji Provia 100F to capture the lightining in Bulb mode. I am not sure how long the exposure was but the lightining shot came really good.

My question is, will the film experience any solarization since the intensity of lightining may be too high that film can handle.

In this particular case, is reciprocity failure have a positive effect on getting a good exposure?

I can only comment on Velvia 50 (it's all I've tested) but that definitely started to solarise once you got to +5 stops (ish). The result was a yellow colour - which is probably why it gets nice yellow suns in sunsets where neg film gets clear suns. The effect isn't very large however, a drum scan is needed to expand the shoulder area.
