I am hardly new to 35mm photography but I am new to Rolleiflex 35 mm cameras. I discovered them purely by accident, looking for a Carl Zeiss optic. I have several Contax SLR cameras plus other cameras. My question to you is folks here is about the quality of Singapore produced SL35E versions and the German cameras. I found a very mint 35E with a 50mm f1.8 and it was looking perfect. Are the cameras made in Singapore really that bad? I don’t see how the parant company would accept non working cameras

Thank you very much. I had read through the information already. The camera I bought looks brand new with the scratches on the base plate, the only visible sign of use

Short story; if you have a working one use it! It is a nicely designed camera with excellent lenses.
If the SL35E ever suffers electrical failure, the all-mechanical SL35 is a good replacement to continue to use the lenses.

Thank you. I am assuming that if this camera from 1980 or so arrives in perfect condition and it works, I will have a good time using it - among the 25 other cameras I have. I own several Contax cameras and the Aria is my favorite. The Carl Zeiss lenses are superb and far less expensive than the Leitz lenses
