My comments were more to encourage people to use Silverprint than the opposite! I'm not sure what I said gave the right impression. I have in the past phoned through but like many others I like the ease and convenience of online ordering. However, even if one had to send orders by carrier pigeon I would still use them for my supplies as I believe such specialist companies need our support. Without them where would we be?
I am in the market for a Zeiss Ikon and can't believe the difference in prices in the USA and Japan. A new ZI at popflash is US$1260 & from Robert White - with vat is £950.50 ish which coverts to around US$1800 - even if you added the local sales tax to the USA price it is still considerablly cheaper - cheap enogh to fly over and get it!
I must admit that I buy most of my stuff from Silverprint and have always been happy with their service.

Not such a rip-off Carl; you haven't factored in the 26% duty ( VAT + Import) that you are liable to pay plus of course freight, and we are enjoying a very favorable exchange rate at the moment.
Fortunatly it is still a free country, so the choice of source is yours; international postage and insurance is quite cheap.
It's a shame the website functionality is so poor. I think a proper e-commerce site would be great. It is a real trial placing an order in the current system.
Funny isn't it, that most of the companies dealing extensively with analogue photography (at least in the UK) don't have the best websites. Possibly the two go hand in hand and if Silverprint were to suddenly have a slick modern web site, then they might also stop selling analogue. Arg, wash my mouth out. I for one, am willing to put up with Silverprint's idiosynchrisies in order to get my hands on their goodies
