I purchased a used Epson V750 and the previous owner registered the software, Silverfast Ai 6. I have Windows Vista 64 and the program won't load. The Silverfast site won't let me view any upgrade options and I think I can buy at $116 US. While I work with the previous owner and ponder the 6.6 upgrade cost (which works with Windows 7), I'm wondering if Epson Scan and TIFF output with CS4 would be comparable to Silverfast? I'm not sure what is in Silverfast, I'm still learning CS4 and LR 2.2 and would rather not learn another software product if what I currently have will handle the controls needed for negative (B/W, Chrome, color, 35, 120, 4x5) manipulation, color balance, curves, sharpening etc? Am I missing some cool feature with Silverfast I wont get with CS4? Thanks

Have you contacted LaserSoft to find out how to transfer a license?

When I bought my V750 (used), the software installer told me that my serial number was in use (or something like that), and all I had to do was put the CD in the drive, it read something from the CD, and everything was OK. No problems with registering or getting a (free) update from 6.5 to 6.6. I've been very happy with scanning negative film with SilverFast, far better results than I've ever gotten with just PS or with VueScan.

Contact LaserSoft (via email or phone)...I've found their customer service to be very helpful.
