What kind of emails? They don't take questions via email unless it's about an order. They want you to phone. It's a pain I know. If the emails are about an active order I've no idea.

Just a suggestion, did you check to make sure they weren't going to your spam folder?

On three different occasions I emailed questions about an item listed on their site, and not one response. Some of their descriptions are really meager, and a buyer needs to know more. I did make one of those purchases from KEH, and went to Adorama and B&H for the other two (didn't use emails, their descriptions were complete)

I just wanted to know the shipping charge of a certain camera.I have the $$ for the Nikon but sometimes shipping fees from the USA are ridicules.

When you put the order in they'll send you a shipping quote. You'll have the choice of saying yes/no.

If it's just a camera figure close to $40 US.

I usually call them and they've been pretty decent about getting back to me. The equipment is another building so they have to contact someone there to pull out the goods. Any questions I've had were answered promptly. Hoping to make another buy when I hear back from them.

I rarely communicate 'cold' through e-mail with a business.

A typical business gets 100's-1000's of spam and most e-mail goes into the spam/junk mail folder. Especially if it was created in Hotmail, Yahoo, gmail, even Comcast, Rogers, etc.... Sometimes even addys from legit companies get directed into the spam/junk folder automatically.

For example I get over 200 junk mails a day! My spam/junk folder is emptied everyday and to be honest, I don't search whether an e-mail in my spam/junk folder is legit or not. I just empty the entire folder. I leave it up to the person who wants to e-mail me to call me, and only then will I put their e-mail addy into my safe list. I suspect most people do this.

I'd suggest you give them a call.

Regards, Art.

As long as we're talking about communication with KEH, has anyone else had this problem? For a couple of months I've been unable to connect to their website on a Mac system with the latest versions of both Safari and Firefox. This was not previously a problem; I've not upgraded anything or changed thr browsers over that timespan.

I did last week. Turned out I had to lower my MTU to 1400. If you're running PPPOE with ADSL it's likely set to 1492.

But that didn't stop me 100%.

Ain't that when Columbus sailed the ocean blue?

Seriously, what did you just say?

If you aren't on a PPPoE DSL connection then it's likely a different issue. But if you are then it could be the MTU issue.

The router I use has a MTU setting. If you connect direct the setting is likely on your computer.

Basically if the size is too big it gets stuck. I've no idea what KEH is doing that caused the problem.

Art,
I get more than 300 spams a day PER email address I use. So what ?
Since 1999 I've never missed an email. And this is only for my personal email addresses. I do not talk about business email.
So a business unable to respond to email but giving an email address is firing a bullet in it's foot. And I won't make business with them. Period.
Imagine a business giving a phone number and never answering a phone call. Would you do business with them ? I won't.
BTW if you need shops for Viagra or increasing your size, I can give some to you, and I will add free of charge a cheap luxury watch shop as a bonus ;-)

I agree with most repliers here, just give them a call - they have always been very up front with information or questions about their goods, I just called them yesterday. And I also use Firefox on a mac and never have any problems with their website.

I admit their site has a couple of annoying glitches, but communication has been good. (When nothing screws up on my end.) There service is still better by a mile than anyone else I've dealt with. I just received an extension tube for my GS-1 yesterday. As usual, their "bargain" goods are in excellent working order.

Cheers,

I just got finished drooling over a couple lenses over there, and I am on a MAC.

I was on their website as late as last weekend using Safari, with no problems, FWIW.
I'm running Safari 3.0, but I see there is a Safari 3.0.3 available.

Hmmm ... I think you're missing my point. Oh well. It doesn't matter.

Oh, you have no idea how ironic this statement is. No idea.

Email isn't reliable, seems to be the point you were making. Even the best spam filters still have false positives.

I use Internet Explorer on a Windows machine with Comcast high speed internet, and I haven't been able to search their website either for at least a month. I thought it was my anti-virus program. I emailed KEH (no response) and called them (no clue). I'm not sure what an MTU is, or if it's applicable to Windows, but it's been a pain because I love KEH.

I can get to their home page, but it will not let me search or browse; the "loading" emblem just spins and spins... Can't figure what I'm doing wrong.

I'm on 10.4.10 running Safari 2.0.4 and Firefox 2.0.0.7 and no probs with Keh at all. Searches are fine but I usually just go to the "camera store" pull down and browse from there.

Maybe cookies or pop up settings ? Of course, being able to search and browse is not exactly healthy for the pocketbook so maybe it's a good thing you can't see all the stuff they've got

Thats basically what I had.

Are you using a router? Or direct connection?
