Hi everyone!

So I recently used Silbersalz 500T for my 35mm film camera. When I put the film in the camera, it automatically sets to 250 ISO. I thought it was a mistake so I manually set it to 500 ISO. The results were great, loved it. Now I saw on the Silbersalz website that the DX-code was set on 250 ISO on purpose, to overexpose the film. The thing is, I haven't tried to overexpose my films yet, so it's kinda new to me. I want to buy the same film again and maybe try to use the recommended ISO. What would it change? Do I need to change any settings on my camera or should I know something specific when overexposing the film? Also should I tell my lab that I did this new setting?
I think it's an opportunity for me to learn about overexposure, if anyone can help me, I would be grateful. Otherwise, I'll keep setting my camera to 500T and I'll learn later in life lol.

Thanks

Hi @clarapicci, welcome to Photrio!
The reason they recommend overexposing this film is probably because its intended to be exposed under tungsten lightbulbs (artificial indoor lighting, such as your living room etc.) To use such film in daylight, you generally use the appropriate color filter and expose a little longer to compensate for the film's sensitivity and the light that's lost in the filter.

However, if you're happy with the film the way you've already used it, you could always just keep doing what you're doing. After all, if the results are to your liking, why change anything?
