I always name and sign my landscape prints but I'm not sure is it normal to do this for portraits? I presume it is but so far I haven't as it feels a bit strange to me for some reason, don't know why

There isn't a "rule" here.

If Karsh had done a portrait of my ancestors I'd actually be hoping that he signed it.

If your going to sign portraits it's customery not to sign the actual print, but the lower right portion of the matt, except if you are entering them in photographic competitions where to have your name on the front of them could disqualify them, because it could bring into question with the other contestants the impartiality of the judge/judges.

I have decided to sign them (on the Matt) as I do with my landscapes from now on.
